About the Song
“Joy Is Coming” is one of Fido’s most uplifting records, built around a simple but powerful idea: difficult seasons do not last forever. Originally released as a single in December 2024 through Oosha Records / EMPIRE, the song was produced by Choke Boi and later became part of Fido’s debut album, Olayemi.
The record arrived at a period when Fido was gaining attention following the success of “Awolowo.” Instead of leaning completely into the pressure that comes with a rising music career, “Joy Is Coming” presents a more optimistic side of the artist, combining celebration with gratitude and faith.
The Sound
Fido delivers the song over a lively Afrobeats foundation coloured by elements of Fuji, Highlife and Nigerian street-pop. Choke Boi’s production keeps the instrumental energetic without making it feel overly complicated, allowing Fido’s voice and the central message to carry the record.
The song is designed to make listeners move. Its rhythmic structure, repeated hook and dance-focused delivery give it a communal quality that works well in parties, celebrations and everyday listening.
Fido also moves naturally between English, Nigerian Pidgin and Yoruba. This mixture gives “Joy Is Coming” an unmistakably Nigerian identity while making its message accessible to a wide audience.
What the Song Is About
The heart of “Joy Is Coming” is hope. Fido encourages listeners to release their worries, celebrate life and maintain faith that better experiences are ahead. Gratitude to God is closely connected to that message, giving the song a spiritual dimension without taking away from its lively character.
The phrase “joy is coming” becomes more than a catchy title. It represents the expectation of a better chapter after a difficult period. That message is particularly relatable because the song does not ignore hardship. Instead, it responds to it with movement, celebration and optimism.
Fido has also described the song as being about believing in the happiness and positive moments that can emerge regardless of what someone may currently be experiencing. The official video reinforces this idea through scenes of people celebrating important moments and embracing hope for the future.
