About the Song
“Same Life” is a collaboration between Nigerian artists Ruhdee and Otega, released in February 2025. The song takes a grounded look at everyday life, touching on the different circumstances people experience while pursuing better opportunities and trying to make a living.
The Sound
Produced by Alpha Beats, “Same Life” combines contemporary Afrobeats and street-influenced elements with the distinct vocal approaches of both artists. Ruhdee and Otega move comfortably between melodic passages and expressive delivery, giving the record a rhythmic sound while keeping its message at the centre.
What the Song Is About
The record reflects on the contrasting realities that exist within the same society. Its lyrics explore survival, financial pressure, ambition and the daily grind, while acknowledging that people can live very different experiences despite sharing the same world.
Otega’s contribution adds another perspective to the song’s central message, complementing Ruhdee’s performance and giving the collaboration a natural back-and-forth feel. Rather than presenting life as a simple journey, “Same Life” captures some of the uncertainty, struggle and determination that can come with chasing a better future.
