About the Song
“Abracadabra” is a high-energy collaboration between Nigerian producer and artist Rexxie, Naira Marley and Skiibii. Released in October 2022 through HitxlabNG and Dvpper Music, the 3-minute track became one of Rexxie’s notable releases from the period and was later included on his Big Time album.
The record brings together three artists whose styles naturally fit the Nigerian street-pop space. Rexxie handles the production while Naira Marley and Skiibii add contrasting vocal personalities, giving the song a lively and playful character.
The Sound
“Abracadabra” combines Amapiano influences with Nigerian street-pop, built around a dance-ready rhythm and a repetitive hook designed to keep the energy moving. Rexxie’s production gives the track a strong groove while allowing the vocal performances to remain prominent.
The arrangement is deliberately straightforward. Rather than filling the record with complicated musical changes, the production relies on rhythm, repetition and memorable vocal phrases. Naira Marley brings his familiar laid-back street delivery, while Skiibii adds a smoother melodic presence.
That combination gives “Abracadabra” an easy party appeal. It works naturally in Afrobeats and street-pop playlists, particularly in settings where the focus is on dancing and enjoying the moment.
What the Song Is About
The song revolves around confidence, enjoyment, attraction and the rewards of success. The artists present themselves as people enjoying the lifestyle that comes with money, recognition and social attention. The recurring “Abracadabra” idea adds a playful sense of magic to the record, almost as if success and excitement appear effortlessly.
There is also plenty of self-assurance throughout the performances. Rexxie, Naira Marley and Skiibii use humour, swagger and energetic delivery to create a carefree atmosphere rather than turning the song into a deeply reflective record.
“Abracadabra” also became a notable charting release. The song reached No. 10 on the Official Afrobeats Chart, spending four weeks on the chart in early 2023. Rexxie later released a remix featuring Wizkid, extending the life of the collaboration and bringing another major voice into the record.
The original remains a strong example of the street-oriented Amapiano sound that was gaining significant attention in Nigeria during this period.
