About the Song
“Apala Disco” is a vibrant collaboration between Nigerian DJ and producer DJ Tunez and singer Terry Apala. Released in November 2023, the track brings a contemporary club atmosphere to Terry Apala’s distinctive musical identity, creating a record that connects traditional Nigerian influences with a modern dance sound.
The Sound
The production, led by DJ Tunez with additional production from Smeez, is built around a steady, dance-friendly rhythm that gives the song its energetic character. Terry Apala’s recognisable vocal style adds the cultural identity of Apala music to the record, while the production keeps the track accessible to listeners familiar with contemporary Afrobeats and electronic-leaning Nigerian sounds.
What the Song Is About
“Apala Disco” is centred on enjoying the moment, socialising and letting loose. The song captures the atmosphere of a lively gathering, with lyrics that encourage listeners to forget their worries, enjoy the music and make the most of the occasion.
The collaboration is particularly notable for the way it places Terry Apala’s Apala-inspired delivery over DJ Tunez’s modern production approach. The result is a playful fusion that gives the traditional influence a fresh setting without losing its Nigerian character.
