About the Song
“Favourite Girl (Remix)” is a collaboration between British-Nigerian artist Darkoo and Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema. Released in August 2024, the remix builds on Darkoo’s original “Favourite Girl” by adding Rema’s vocals and giving the track a fresh dynamic while preserving the character of the original record.
The Sound
The song blends Afrobeats and dancehall influences into a smooth, rhythmic production. Darkoo’s distinctive vocal tone gives the record its foundation, while Rema brings his own melodic style and energetic delivery to the remix. The combination creates a lively track with a strong dance-floor feel and an easy-to-follow hook.
What the Song Is About
“Favourite Girl” is centred on admiration, attraction and celebrating a woman who stands out from everyone else. The lyrics portray the subject as someone who commands attention, with both artists expressing their appreciation for her confidence, appearance and personality.
Rema’s contribution adds another perspective to the song, complementing Darkoo’s original performance and giving the remix a new vocal dimension. The result is a playful and romantic record built around attraction, confidence and enjoying the chemistry between two people.
