About the Song
“Different Pattern” is the opening track and title-inspired centerpiece of Seyi Vibez’s 2023 EP, NAHAMciaga. Released on December 8, 2023, the song introduces the project with a confident performance that combines streetwise observations, gratitude and reflections on personal progress. Seyi Vibez is credited as both the primary artist and composer, while Dibs handled the production.
The Sound
The track stands out for its connection to traditional Yoruba music. Its production draws from Yoruba Highlife and Apala, while Seyi Vibez’s modern vocal delivery keeps the record firmly within contemporary Nigerian street-pop.
The mid-tempo arrangement gives his melodies plenty of space, allowing his Yoruba-infused phrasing and expressive delivery to take centre stage. Music critics have also highlighted the influence of Highlife legend Orlando Owoh on the song’s melodic character, creating an interesting bridge between older Nigerian sounds and the newer generation of Afrobeats.
What the Song Is About
“Different Pattern” is built around the idea of moving through life on your own terms. Seyi Vibez presents himself as someone who has developed his own approach to music, success and survival, while remaining conscious of the people and circumstances that shaped his journey.
Gratitude is an important part of the record. References to God’s favour sit alongside expressions of ambition and confidence, creating a balance between spirituality and the determination to succeed. The song also carries the competitive energy of street culture, with Seyi Vibez making it clear that he does not want to be left behind.
The title itself reflects the song’s central idea: doing things differently and developing an identity that cannot easily be confused with anyone else’s. This theme also connects with Seyi Vibez’s own description of his musical evolution, where he has spoken about continuing to come with a “different pattern.”
