T.I BLAZE – The Fresh Prince Of Lagos

About the EP

“The Fresh Prince Of Lagos” is the debut EP by Nigerian singer and songwriter T.I BLAZE, released on February 25, 2022 through Dvpper Music. The six-track project introduced his personal sound and perspective to a wider audience, combining contemporary Afropop with street influences, Amapiano touches and the raw energy of Lagos life.

The project features Olamide, Barry Jhay, Blxckie and Rasaqi NFG, bringing together different styles while keeping T.I BLAZE’s voice at the centre. The tracklist includes “Try,” “Sometimes (Remix),” “Gbedu,” “Oba,” “Basic” and “Sometimes.”

The Sound

The EP moves comfortably between gritty street-pop storytelling and more relaxed, dance-oriented records. Songs such as “Try” and “Sometimes” focus strongly on the realities of struggle and ambition, while “Gbedu” introduces an infectious Amapiano-influenced party atmosphere. “Basic,” featuring Blxckie and Rasaqi NFG, adds a mellow cross-continental flavour to the project.

T.I BLAZE’s vocal approach gives the project a direct and conversational quality. His delivery carries the perspective of a young artist reflecting on where he came from while imagining the life he wants to build.

What the EP Is About

The central theme of The Fresh Prince Of Lagos is the journey from struggle toward a better life. T.I BLAZE draws from the mentality of a young hustler who has experienced hardship but remains hopeful about what lies ahead. The project balances stories of pressure and perseverance with moments of confidence, enjoyment and celebration.

“Try” captures the determination to keep pushing despite difficult circumstances, while “Sometimes” explores the frustrations and realities that come with the hustle. The collaborations expand that story, particularly the Olamide-assisted remix and the international collaboration on “Basic.”

The title itself reflects the artist’s aspirations. Rather than simply describing his present circumstances, T.I BLAZE uses the project to present a picture of the future he is working toward.
