Fave – Riddim 5 EP

About the EP

“Riddim 5” is the debut EP by Nigerian singer and songwriter FAVE, released on January 20, 2022. The five-track project marked an important introduction to her distinct blend of Afrobeats, Afropop, R&B and Caribbean-influenced sounds. The EP contains “Obsessed,” “S.M.K,” “Kilotufe,” “Mr Man” and “Baby Riddim.”

The project arrived after FAVE had gained attention through songs such as “M.O.M.M.S” and “Beautifully,” as well as her appearances on Olamide’s UY Scuti. With Riddim 5, she presented a more complete picture of her musical personality, combining romantic songwriting with playful, groove-driven performances.

The Sound

Riddim 5 is built around smooth melodies, infectious rhythms and FAVE’s expressive vocals. The production moves between Afropop, R&B, hip-hop and Caribbean influences, giving each track its own character while maintaining the easy-going feel suggested by the title.

FAVE described the songs as having a “riddim” vibe, referring to music with a sweet groove and strong rhythmic identity. She also explained that the project was an opportunity to experiment with different sounds and explore how far she could stretch her musical style.

The EP’s production includes contributions from producers such as Krisbeatz, NiphKeys, Phyl, Saszy Afroshii and Damie, with Damie producing the widely recognised “Baby Riddim.”

What the EP Is About

Love, attraction and emotional connection run through much of Riddim 5. “Obsessed” explores intense romantic feelings, while “Mr Man” presents a playful invitation to connect, dance and enjoy the moment.

“S.M.K” and “Kilotufe” add further shades to FAVE’s romantic and personal songwriting, while “Baby Riddim” captures the project’s most carefree and instantly infectious side. The song had already become a recognised part of FAVE’s catalogue before the EP arrived, making it a natural centrepiece for the project.

Rather than following one strict genre, Riddim 5 allows FAVE to move freely between different influences while keeping her voice and songwriting at the centre. The result is a compact project that introduces an artist comfortable with experimentation, romance and melody.
